You’re not looking for window coverings that break down in six months because someone didn’t account for Miami’s humidity. You want shades that close automatically when the afternoon sun hits, open at sunrise without you lifting a finger, and integrate with whatever smart home system you’re already using.
Lutron smart shades do exactly that. They adjust based on time of day, temperature, or whether you’re home. The motors are nearly silent, so you won’t hear them in your bedroom or during a movie. And because they’re Lutron, they work with Alexa, Google, Apple HomeKit, and most automation platforms without requiring a tech degree to set up.
The result is a home that feels more comfortable, costs less to cool, and doesn’t demand constant adjustments. You set preferences once, and the system handles the rest—whether you’re in Brickell, Coral Gables, or halfway across the country.
We bring 20 years of window treatment and home automation experience to South Florida, backed by our sister companies in New York and Toronto. We’re a certified Lutron dealer, which means we’ve completed the training to design, sell, and install their systems correctly—not just hang fabric and hope it works.
We handle everything from single-room installations to full-home automation projects. That includes assessing your space for humidity concerns, recommending the right fabrics and opacity levels, integrating with your existing smart home setup, and making sure the system actually does what you need it to do. No subcontractors. No hand-offs. Just one team that knows how Lutron window treatments perform in Miami’s climate because we’ve been installing them here for years.
We start with a consultation at your home or office. You’ll walk us through what’s not working—glare on your TV, heat gain in the afternoon, privacy concerns, or whatever’s driving the search. We’ll measure your windows, assess the space for any installation considerations, and talk through fabric options, opacity levels, and automation features that actually matter to you.
From there, we design the system. That includes selecting the right Lutron product line—whether that’s Caséta for a straightforward setup, RadioRA 3 for whole-home control, or HomeWorks for a fully integrated luxury system. We’ll also confirm compatibility with your existing smart home devices and map out how you’ll control everything.
Once you approve the plan, we order custom-manufactured shades built to your exact window dimensions. Installation typically takes a day or two depending on the scope. We mount the shades, program the system, connect it to your network and smart home platform, and walk you through how to use it. Then we test everything to make sure it’s working the way you expected before we leave.

Lutron offers hundreds of fabric options across different opacities—sheer, light filtering, room darkening, and blackout. You’re not limited to a handful of beige options. You can choose textures, colors, and materials that match your design preferences while still getting the light control and energy efficiency you need.
The motors are what set Lutron apart. They’re nearly silent, battery-powered or hardwired depending on your setup, and built to last. You won’t hear them operating, and they won’t require constant maintenance or battery swaps every few months. In Miami, where temperature swings and humidity can wreak havoc on cheaper motorized systems, that reliability matters.
Integration is straightforward. Lutron electric shades work with Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, and most major automation platforms. You can control them from your phone, set schedules, create scenes that adjust lighting and shades together, or let the system learn your habits and adjust automatically. If you’re already using Lutron lighting controls, the shades integrate seamlessly into the same app and system—no juggling multiple platforms or dealing with compatibility issues that slow everything down.
Pricing depends on window size, fabric selection, and how many shades you’re installing. A single standard window with a battery-powered Lutron shade typically starts around $600 to $900 installed. Larger windows, specialty shapes, or blackout fabrics will run higher. If you’re outfitting a whole home, expect the project to range from $5,000 to $20,000 depending on the number of windows and level of automation.
Miami pricing tends to run slightly higher than national averages due to installation labor rates and the need for climate-appropriate materials. But you’re also getting shades that are built to handle South Florida’s humidity and heat, installed by certified professionals who know how to integrate them with your smart home system. Cheaper options exist, but they usually fail within a year or two in this climate—or they never integrate properly in the first place.
Yes, but only if they’re installed correctly. Miami’s humidity, temperature swings, and occasional storm conditions destroy poorly installed window treatments within months. The key is using the right mounting methods, climate-appropriate adhesives, and fabrics that won’t warp or fade under constant sun exposure.
Lutron shades are designed for durability, but the installation matters just as much as the product. We assess each space for moisture concerns, ensure proper ventilation around the mounting hardware, and select fabrics with UV protection and moisture resistance. The motors are sealed and built to handle temperature fluctuations without losing calibration. That’s why we see Lutron systems still operating smoothly after 10+ years in South Florida homes, while cheaper motorized shades tend to fail or require constant recalibration.
Yes. Lutron shades integrate with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit right out of the box. You can control them with voice commands, add them to routines, or group them with other smart devices. For example, you can create a “Good Morning” routine that opens the shades, adjusts the thermostat, and turns on the coffee maker—all with one command.
The integration is native, not through a third-party workaround, so it’s reliable. You won’t deal with lag, dropped connections, or the system randomly forgetting your devices. If you’re using Lutron lighting controls already, the shades show up in the same app and can be controlled together. That unified control is what separates Lutron from cheaper motorized options that require juggling multiple apps and dealing with compatibility issues that never quite get resolved.
Most residential installations take one to two days depending on the number of windows and complexity of the automation setup. A single room with three or four windows can usually be completed in a few hours. A whole-home project with 15 to 20 windows, full smart home integration, and custom programming typically takes two full days.
The timeline includes mounting the shades, running any necessary wiring for hardwired motors, programming the system, connecting it to your network and smart home platform, and testing everything to make sure it works as expected. We don’t rush installations because Miami’s climate requires careful attention to mounting methods and moisture considerations. A poorly installed shade might work fine for a few months, then start failing once humidity gets into the motor housing or the mounting brackets loosen. We’d rather take the extra time upfront than have you dealing with service calls six months later.
Caséta is Lutron’s entry-level system. It’s perfect for a few rooms or a straightforward setup where you want smart control without a complex installation. You can control up to 50 devices, it integrates with all major smart home platforms, and it’s the most budget-friendly option. Most homeowners doing a bedroom, living room, or home office start here.
RadioRA 3 is the mid-tier system designed for whole-home control. It handles up to 100 devices, offers more advanced programming and scene creation, and integrates lighting, shades, temperature, and audio into one platform. If you’re automating an entire home and want everything controlled from a single app, this is the sweet spot for most Miami homeowners.
HomeWorks is Lutron’s luxury system. It’s fully customizable, scales to any size property, and offers the most advanced programming and integration options. You’ll see this in high-end homes, penthouses, and commercial spaces where the automation needs to be invisible but comprehensive. It’s overkill for most residential projects, but if you’re building or renovating a luxury property and want every detail controlled seamlessly, it’s the system to use.
Yes. Lutron shades integrate with most existing smart home systems without requiring a complete overhaul. If you’re already using Control4, Crestron, Savant, or another automation platform, Lutron shades can be added and controlled through the same interface you’re already using. The integration is native, so you won’t lose functionality or deal with workarounds.
If you’re using a simpler setup with Alexa, Google, or Apple HomeKit, the process is even more straightforward. The shades connect to your network, show up in your app, and can be added to existing routines or scenes. The only consideration is making sure your network can handle the additional devices—especially if you’re adding 10 or 15 shades at once. We’ll assess your setup during the consultation and let you know if any upgrades are needed before installation. Most homes don’t require changes, but it’s worth confirming upfront rather than discovering connectivity issues after everything’s installed.
