About Miami Design Group
Who we are, what we do, and where we work.
What makes Miami Design Group different?
Miami Design Group combines luxury design, smart technology, and custom craftsmanship to create spaces that feel modern, refined, and tailored to the South Florida lifestyle.
Why should I choose Miami Design Group?
Clients choose Miami Design Group for our personalized approach, premium materials, modern design expertise, and ability to seamlessly integrate interior and outdoor living solutions across homes, condos, apartments, and commercial spaces.
What does Miami Design Group specialize in?
Miami Design Group specializes in luxury home design solutions, including window treatments, smart
home automation, interior enhancements, and outdoor living systems for residential and commercial spaces.
What areas do you serve?
Miami Design Group proudly serves clients from Boca Raton to Miami Beach, including Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Hallandale Beach, Sunny Isles Beach, and Aventura.
Do you have a showroom I can visit?
Yes. We have two South Florida showrooms — 16560 Collins Ave in Sunny Isles Beach and 2520 SW 30th Ave in Hallandale Beach. Seeing fabrics, slats, and motorized systems in person is the fastest way to narrow down options, so we recommend a visit before finalizing selections.
Which brands do you work with?
We work with the manufacturers behind the most reliable products in the category, including Hunter Douglas for shades, blinds, and shutters, and Somfy, Lutron, and Control4 for motorization and smart home integration.
Consultation, Custom Work & Installation
What happens between your first call and the finished install.
How does the consultation process work?
Every project begins with a consultation where we discuss your goals, design preferences, functionality needs, and overall vision before recommending tailored solutions.
Are your products custom-made?
Yes. All of our products are custom-designed and professionally measured to ensure the perfect fit and finish for your space.
Do you provide installation services?
Yes. Our experienced team handles professional installation to ensure every product functions correctly and integrates seamlessly into your environment.
How long does a custom project take?
Project timelines vary depending on the scope and level of customization. During your consultation, we provide estimated timelines and ongoing updates throughout the process.
Do I need to measure my own windows?
No. Because every product is made to order, we measure on site ourselves. Manufacturer warranties on custom sizing assume a professional measurement, and a fraction of an inch is the difference between a clean fit and a light gap.
What does a custom window treatment project cost?
Cost depends on the product, the size and number of openings, the fabric or material, and whether the system is motorized. Rather than quote a range that will not match your space, we price the actual openings during your free consultation and give you a written estimate before anything is ordered.
Window Treatments
Shades, blinds, shutters, and drapery for South Florida light.
What types of window treatments do you offer?
We offer roller shades, Roman shades, woven shades, shutters, drapery, blackout shades, skylight shades, vertical blinds, solar shades, and fully motorized systems customized to your space.
What window treatments work best for Miami homes?
Motorized shades, solar shades, shutters, and sheer drapery are among the most popular choices for South Florida homes because they help reduce glare, improve privacy, and protect interiors from UV exposure while maintaining natural light.
Do you offer blackout shades?
Yes. We offer blackout and room-darkening shades designed for bedrooms, media rooms, condos, apartments, and hospitality spaces where privacy and light control are important.
What are solar shades?
Solar shades reduce glare and UV exposure while preserving natural light and outdoor views. They are commonly used in Miami condos, offices, and waterfront homes.
Do shutters work well in South Florida?
Yes. Modern shutters are designed to handle South Florida heat, humidity, and sunlight while providing privacy, durability, and timeless style.
Can I combine two treatments on the same window?
Yes, and on large windows it is often the better answer. A common pairing is a solar or
blackout shade for function with drapery panels layered over it for softness and sound absorption. Dual-roller systems put a sheer and a blackout shade on a single headrail so one window handles both daytime glare and nighttime privacy.
How do I clean and care for my window treatments?
Most shades and blinds need nothing more than regular dusting or a vacuum brush attachment on a low setting. Woven and fabric shades should be spot cleaned rather than saturated. Shutters wipe down with a soft, slightly damp cloth. We go over care for your specific materials at handover.
Motorization & Smart Home
Automated shades, app control, and system integration.
Are motorized shades worth it?
Yes. Motorized shades improve convenience, energy efficiency, and light control while creating a clean, modern appearance. They are especially beneficial for condos, large windows, and hard-to-reach spaces.
Can shades be connected to smart home systems?
Absolutely. Motorized shades can integrate with systems like Control4, Lutron, and Somfy for automated and remote control.
Can smart home automation improve energy efficiency?
Yes. Automated shades and integrated climate control systems help reduce heat gain and manage sunlight, improving comfort and energy efficiency.
Do motorized shades require new wiring?
Not necessarily. Battery-powered and rechargeable motors install in existing openings with no electrical work, which is what makes them practical for condos and finished homes. Hardwired motors are the better choice for new construction, renovations, and very large or high openings. We recommend the right one after seeing the space.
Can motorized shades be set on a schedule?
Yes. Shades can be grouped into scenes and scheduled by time of day or triggered by sun position, so west-facing glass closes down through the hottest part of the afternoon and reopens on its own.
Outdoor Living & Shading
Pergolas, awnings, and retractable shading systems.
What outdoor products do you offer?
We offer pergolas, awnings, retractable shading systems, patio shades, and outdoor living solutions designed for South Florida homes and commercial properties.
Are pergolas good for South Florida homes?
Yes. Pergolas create comfortable shaded outdoor areas while enhancing the appearance and usability of patios, rooftops, balconies, and poolside spaces.
What are retractable awnings?
Retractable awnings provide adjustable shade and weather protection while allowing flexibility depending on sunlight and outdoor conditions.
Can outdoor shades help reduce heat?
Absolutely. Outdoor shading systems reduce heat, glare, and UV exposure while improving comfort in outdoor living and entertainment areas.
Do you work on commercial outdoor spaces?
Yes. We design and install outdoor shading and pergola systems for hotels, restaurants, commercial patios, rooftop spaces, and hospitality environments.
Condos, Commercial & Trade
The kinds of properties and partners we work with.
Do you work with condos and apartments?
Yes. We frequently design and install custom solutions for high-rise condos, apartments, and luxury residential developments throughout South Florida.
Can you work within my building's requirements?
Yes. Many South Florida buildings specify what the street side of a window covering has to look like, along with rules for install hours and elevator use. Tell us the building and we will build the selection around its requirements so nothing gets rejected after it is made.
Do you provide commercial and hospitality solutions?
Yes. We work with hotels, office spaces, developers, restaurants, and commercial properties to create modern, functional, and visually refined environments.
Do you work with designers, architects, and builders?
Yes. We support trade professionals with specification help, pricing, measuring, and installation on residential and commercial projects.
