Pinch Pleat

– Often made from heavier fabrics, as the pleats require some structure to maintain their shape.

– Offers great light control and allows for a tailored look when open or closed.

– Cleaning can vary based on fabric type; some may be machine washable, while others will need dry cleaning. The pleats can collect dust, so regular maintenance is recommended.

Choosing the right fabrics

Lightweight Fabrics
Lightweight fabrics, such as cotton or linen, allow for a soft, airy feel. They are great for spaces where you want to let in natural light while maintaining a degree of privacy. These fabrics drape beautifully but may require lining for added opacity.

Medium-weight Fabrics
Medium-weight options, like cotton blends or polyester, offer a good balance between draping and structure. They provide more privacy and light control than lightweight fabrics while still allowing for a casual look. They often hold their shape well without looking too stiff.

Heavyweight Fabrics
Heavyweight fabrics, such as velvet or brocade, create a luxurious, opulent feel. They provide excellent insulation and light control, making them ideal for bedrooms and formal settings. These fabrics can enhance sound absorption, contributing to a cozier environment.

Sheer Fabrics
Sheer fabrics, like silk or voile, are perfect for creating a light and airy atmosphere. They filter light gently and provide some privacy while allowing visibility to the outside. Sheers work well layered with heavier drapes for added flexibility.

Patterned Fabrics
Choosing patterned fabrics can add visual interest and character to your space. Consider the scale and color of the pattern in relation to your room’s decor. Patterns can also help hide wrinkles and wear, making them a practical choice.

Choosing the right lining

Blackout Lining
Blocks nearly all light from entering a room when the curtains are closed and provides added insulation for windows, helping to save energy.

Interlining
A layer of fabric positioned between the lining and the outer fabric of curtains, interlining enhances fullness, insulation, and durability.

Privacy Lining
Helps add fullness and body to drapery panels while adding a layer of privacy, blocking outside viewers from clearly seeing in.

Soundproof Lining
A specialized layer designed to minimize noise transmission and enhances your curtains’ ability to block out external sounds.

Self Lining
A method where the same fabric is used for both the front and back of the curtains, self-lining creates a seamless look while providing additional weight and structure.

Custom Drapes Motorization

We offer several motorization options for your custom curtains, so you can open or close them with ease. Thanks to our partnerships with leading brands, like Somfy, Lutron, Rollease and Control4, your motorized curtains can be operated by remote control, a smart phone, automatic timer, or even the sound of your voice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the right outdoor shade system for my needs?

When selecting an outdoor shade system, consider the following factors:

  • Wind Resistance: Assess the typical wind speeds in your area and select shades rated to withstand those conditions.

  • Material Quality: Choose durable, weather-resistant materials suitable for your local climate.

  • Operational Mechanism: Decide between manual or motorized options based on your budget, convenience preferences, and accessibility needs.

  • Aesthetic Compatibility: Ensure the shade design complements your outdoor decor and meets your functional requirements.

Wind resistance varies among different outdoor shade screens. Some of our options are engineered to withstand wind speeds up to 140+ mph. While others, in non high-risk areas, are generally able to withstand 60-100 mph winds and can be a more affordable option.

To extend the lifespan of your outdoor shades:

Professional Maintenance: Schedule professional inspections and maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer to address any potential issues before they become significant problems.

Regular Cleaning: Clean the shades periodically according to the manufacturer’s guidelines to prevent the buildup of dirt and debris.

Inspection: Regularly inspect the shades for signs of wear or damage, especially after severe weather conditions.

Proper Storage: If your shades are retractable, ensure they are fully retracted and stored in their protective housing during off-season periods or when not in use for extended times.

Decorative Profile Valances are offered in a variety of styles and colors to enhance any décor and give a finished look to all window treatments. The decorative valance can be made in any width, by joining multiple pieces together. If your home has a more traditional or cottage-type feel, you have a lot of options, from wooden blinds to curtains or even shutters. Some treatments, like custom drapery give you enormous flexibility when choosing fabrics and curtain styles, like rod-pocket curtains or pinch-pleat drapes.

A cornice is a box-like wooden valance typically crafted from plywood, then covered with paint, wallpaper, or fabric and mounted to the wall above the window. Other cornices are carved from attractive wood and then stained to look good without needing paint or fabric coverings.
